Author Melanie Dellas has been a magazine and book editor since 1995, and a writer and historian all her life. A native of Michigan, but a true Greek/Italian gypsy at heart, Melanie graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Professional Writing, and attended the University of San Diego where she earned her master’s in History. In 2000 she moved to San Diego and started her own magazines, Native American Casino and San Diego Performer, which she ran for 10 amazing years, earning the “Best Publication Award” from the American Gaming Association. Melanie has also worked as a grant writer and editor for a San Diego nonprofit, and ancient historian/artifact conservationist for the museum industry. In her spare time she edits articles and reads all about fantastic, fabulous creatures and beasts to her sons, John and Nick.
Author visits are a great way for children, parents and teachers to get the inside scoop on their favorite books, authors and illustrators. Author visits are fun and interactive ways for children to learn about what it means to write, illustrate and publish a book, and they’re perfect for schools, discussion groups, book fairs, libraries and many other events.
